Upper Highway, growing fast

Hillcrest and the surrounding Waterfall, Assagay and Botha’s Hill areas have grown substantially, and the mix now runs from long-established family homes on large plots through to modern security estates and a sizeable retail and office node.

Like Kloof, this is mist-belt country. High rainfall, regular cloud cover and cool damp conditions mean the standard coastal specification is the wrong answer here. Mould, algae and moisture-driven coating failure are the recurring problems, not salt.

A large share of new Hillcrest housing sits inside controlled estates, which means estate rules, access control, vetted teams and proper documentation. We bring a valid Letter of Good Standing, R5m public liability cover, OSH compliance and MBA membership (16031), and our crews work in Performance Painting uniform under a named site supervisor.

Schools and institutions

The Upper Highway has a dense concentration of schools, and we have worked on institutional projects in the wider area including Kearsney College at Botha’s Hill. Institutional work is largely about programme discipline — getting in during a holiday window, working safely around any pupils on site, and being finished when term starts. We plan to that from the outset.

Honest assessment first

On older Hillcrest homes we would rather investigate a damp problem properly than quote a repaint that will fail. If the cause is a gutter, a flashing or a drainage detail, fixing that is cheaper for you than painting the same wall twice.
