Painting a building you cannot reach from a ladder
Multi-storey work is a different discipline from ground-level painting. The coating specification barely changes; everything around it does. Access has to be engineered, the public below has to be protected, the programme has to survive coastal wind, and every person on the face of the building has to be licensed to be there.

How we resource work at height — stated plainly
Our work-at-height teams are subcontracted specialists, not our own employees. We say so openly because it is the honest description and because it is what protects you.
Rope access and elevated work is a licensed discipline with its own training, certification and re-certification cycle. We engage accredited work-at-height contractors who do that and nothing else. They work in Performance Painting uniforms, on our programme, to our specification, under PJ Smith’s direct supervision — but the height qualification and the height liability sit with people who hold it properly.

The work itself
On multi-storey blocks the paint is rarely the whole job. We commonly carry out concrete spalling repair to Stoncor specification, expansion joint replacement, parapet and box-gutter waterproofing, and balustrade and steel refurbishment on the same contract. Handling remedial work and coating together means one accountable contractor and no argument later about whose failure it was.
We apply Plascon, Dulux, Prominent, Prodec, Stoncor and Midas systems, and we specify to the exposure. On the KwaZulu-Natal coast, salt-laden air and driving rain will find every weak detail on an elevation, and a system that performs inland will not necessarily last here.

We are OSH compliant and BEE compliant, we hold a valid Letter of Good Standing, and we carry R5m public liability cover.
